Hello everyone
I know most of the current members, but for those I don't know "Hello again".
After a long break, due to illness, I am growing again (my stash lasted a year but now its gone) and with all the dramas at my home forum I have decided to start all new posts here. My illness is not something that will go away but I am comming to terms with it now and want to continue what I love doing.
I love technical things, things that are well made, and I always wanted to design and grow with my own design. After many years of design I think I am pretty close to the best I can achive with current materials. The boxes I grow in are simple enough in constuction, made of wood and strong, plent of air flow, painted white and lined with refelctive material.
The lighting is a different matter, I use LED together with CFs and high power LED arrays utilising deep red, royal blue, warm white 3 and 5 watt LEDs. I also use plenty of UV and computer control of all the lights. Everything is home built and proven over many grows, mainly autos, but I will be growing some 12/12s from seed, I have already done this before but most of my grows have been autos. Over many grows I have found my own personal preference is to strech the plants to improve yeild and reduce the risk of mold.
I am currently using about 200 watts of optimised LEDs at the correct wavelengths, all designed to operate off 12 volts DC. The main LED arrays are situated above the plants in the nomal fashion, and are complimented by lots of directional LED side lighting with each LED mounted on a flexible stork so they can be positioned exactly where needed.
I make my own equipment because:
1. All commercial LED lights I have seen are poorly designed, too expensive, and a rip off.
2. I want something that is best suited to my "off grid" goals (nearly there).
3. I like making it.
Here are a few images of my box & lights, and some previous results. If anyone wants me to expand on aspects of the design then please ask, I will expand this thread as I get more time.
Peace
